Brooklyn Affordable Housing Seminar
A group of affordable housing groups including Neighbors Helping Neighbors and Pratt Area Community Council are sponsoring an affordable housing seminar hosted by MHANY on Thursday, Februray 5 at 6:30 pm at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1208 St Johns Place, Brooklyn. The seminar will help residents in Community Board 2 navigate challenging application process for upcoming housing lotteries, with up to 1,100 affordable units available over next 3 years. Chhaya CDC is hosting a Renter’s Rights and Benefits Workshop on Tuesday, February 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at 37-43 77th Street, 2nd Floor, Jackson Heights. Chhaya’s Free Workshop Series for Homebuyers meets on Saturday, February 28 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The workshop, titled “Nuts and Bolts of Homeownership,” will discuss mortgage affordability and dealing with credit. Call Chhaya at (718) 478-3848 to register.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
NHN’s February first-time homebuyer workshop will be held on February 14 and 21 from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. To RSVP print the registration form and return it to 621 DeGraw Street, Brooklyn along with $25 per person (payable as a money order to ‘Neighbors Helping Neighbors’) before the seminar.
Pratt Area Community Council is hosting a free 4-day personal finance course on Februray 12, 19, 25, and 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Registration info can be found here.
Get started on your taxes with PACC’s free Saturday tax prep on Februray 14, 21, and 28 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. To qualify your income must be less than or equal to $25,000 if you are an individual OR less than or equal to $50,000 for all others. More info can be found here.

Looking Ahead to March
New York Mortgage Coalition executive director Ken Inadomi will speak at CDC of Long Island’s Annual Lenders Forum on Wednesday, March 11.
